The Pueblo of Sandia is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on casino and facility HVAC systems in Albuquerque, NM. Under supervision, you will install, repair, and test equipment, manage controls, and ensure safety standards are met.

Qualified candidates have a High School diploma and at least four years of HVAC or Refrigeration experience, a valid NM driver’s license, and Universal Refrigerant Certification.

Position Summary

Under direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, the HVAC Technician performs the overall repairs of the Casino and related facilities heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, in accordance with management directives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, installs new HVAC equipment, performs routine repairs and maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems including any air distribution machinery, pneumatic and digital control, hot and chilled water distribution, and variable air volume systems.
• Complies with Pueblo, Resort & Casino, and Facilities Department standard operating procedures.
• Under an emergency evacuation and fire, evacuates the building or voluntarily assists the Security Department in emergency evacuation procedures.
• Utilizes a high lift for maintenance tasks when required.
• Reports equipment repair requirements to supervisor.
• Performs preventative maintenance, adjustments, and basic repairs on HVAC systems.
• Performs seasonal overhauls and transitions of systems to and from heating/cooling.
• Coordinates major component replacement and evaluation of complex system problems.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes workplace safety.
• Responsible for maintaining an adequate inventory of heating, ventilation and air condition small repair inventory.
• Repairs, installs, replaces and tests electrical circuits, equipment and appliances using appropriate tools and testing equipment.
• Troubleshoots and repairs electric controls, motor control panels and programmable logic controls.
• Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
• Assists Supervisor’s in maintaining inventory control of equipment, tools, parts, and supplies.
• Participates in Facilities Safety program and completes all safety training, promoting a safe work environment for team members and guests.
• Works in a composite crew and is required to assist Hard Maintenance, Electrical, Plumbing, Kitchen Repair technicians and/or other trades in accomplishing their duties on a routine basis.
• Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and they are expected to report to work based upon the assigned schedule each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo of Sandia.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED certification.
• Four (4) years of HVAC or Refrigeration experience.
• Any combination of trade school and/or experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required experience.

License/Certifications/Registrations

• Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
• Universal Refrigerant Certification
• JR: Journeyman refrigeration
• JSM: Journeyman sheet metal preferred
• JP: Journeyman plumber preferred
• BO1/BO2: boiler operation (low or high pressure)
• JG: Journeyman gas fitters preferred
• Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation.
• Will require a pre‑employment and random drug screening.

Physical Requirements

Working Conditions

• Duties are performed indoors and outdoors as required. Outdoor duties are subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather. Work apparel including standard work uniform issued by employer may require employee to wear other apparel at his own expense to compensate for temperature conditions.
