Job summary

Blue Sky Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric is seeking an HVAC service technician to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a range of residential and light commercial equipment including air conditioning systems, heat pumps, furnaces, and related components. This role emphasizes on-time performance, clear customer communication, and accurate job notes.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of HVAC experience, EPA certification, and a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of HVAC field experience.
• EPA certification required.
• Pass a drug test and background check.
• Proficient English communication for questions, safety concerns, and instructions.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.
• Ability to perform multiple technical tasks safely.
• Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
• Physically fit to work in varied conditions.

Responsibilities

• Be on time and alert for assigned shift and work entire shift as scheduled.
• Manage daily job schedules and time effectively.
• Check in with the client at start and end of each task and communicate clearly throughout the visit.
• Obtain client signature before and after completing work.
• Submit payments promptly (checks or cash) for processing.
• Input all materials used into Service Titan for every job.
• Respond to office communications in a timely manner.
• Check in with dispatcher/supervisor as needed about status.
• Secure parts and tools as required for each job.
• Consult supervisor or dispatcher when uncertain about tasks.
• Communicate with customers clearly to explain work progress and outcomes.
• Adjust communication to maximize customer satisfaction.
• Create detailed job notes in the customer’s account for future reference.
• Share knowledge with coworkers in meetings and one-to-one interactions.
• Be open to testing new ideas and implementing process improvements.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace in homes/businesses and in the company vehicle.
• Maintain a professional appearance per company standards.
• Maintain truck: fuel, oil, routine maintenance; inform fleet of issues; manage inventory of parts and tools.
• Understand and abide by company policies; prioritize safety for self, coworkers, and the public.
• Follow safety practices and MO-OSHA requirements.
