Qualifications

HVAC Service Technician Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dependable HVAC Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing (very little), maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in residential settings. This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and excellent customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and repair HVAC systems, including air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps and ductless systems.
  2. Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
  3. Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and provide effective solutions.
  4. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal HVAC codes and regulations.
  5. Communicate effectively with customers, explaining system issues and recommended solutions.
  6. Provide cost estimates for repairs and replacements.
  7. Maintain accurate records of service calls, maintenance reports, and work orders.
  8. Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and company resources.
  9. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in HVAC.
  2. Valid HVAC technician certification (EPA 608, NATE certification is a plus).
  3. Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical components, and airflow principles.
  4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  5. Proficiency in using HVAC diagnostic tools and hand tools.
  6. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  7. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  9. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  10. Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments (e.g., confined spaces, rooftops, and extreme weather conditions).
