Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas is hiring a full-time HVAC Service Technician II to service a range of commercial and industrial equipment in the Bowie, MD area. You will train through in-person and online programs and lead Level I technicians while diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and air handling systems.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years of HVAC experience, and a valid driver's license; certifications such as EPA Universal Technician,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree or HVAC certification preferred.
• 3+ years HVAC experience in related industry.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Local licensing/training as required by law.
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, belts and lubrication.
• Repair and replacement of defective equipment and wiring for fan coils, heat pumps, AHUs, rooftops, cooling towers, and condenser tubes.
• Inspect equipment to prevent breakdowns or callbacks; identify potential problems.
• Perform warranty service by inspecting and testing systems for functionality.
• Direct Level I technicians with hands-on demonstrations for troubleshooting.
• Assist lead technicians with centrifugal rebuild introductions.
• Record billing, inventory, timecards, and reports promptly.
• Communicate status to customers before, during, and after service; explain technical info clearly.
• Participate in training through regional trainers and Daikin Learning; maintain certifications.

Location: Bowie, MD / Washington DC

Your Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication
• Repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Perform warranty service application by inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of HVAC equipment and components
• Direct Level I technicians through hands-on demonstrations of all necessary steps to troubleshoot and repair equipment
• Introduction to centrifugal rebuilds from Lead and Level III technicians
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off-site learning modules, and Daikin Learning. Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures

Your Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)
• 3+ years of experience in HVAC or related industry
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $33.10 - $ 53.05 in MD. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
