Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas is hiring a full-time HVAC Service Technician II to work on commercial and industrial equipment in the Washington DC/Bowie area. You will receive comprehensive training and service a range of systems including rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and water-source heat pumps.

This role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, customer communication, and ongoing skill development through regional training, with opportunities for growth within a leading HVAC company.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associates degree or HVAC certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of HVAC experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Current first aid/CPR card preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, replacing filters and belts, and lubricating components.
  • Repair and replacement of defective equipment and wiring in fan coils, heat pumps, AHUs, rooftops, boilers and related systems.
  • Inspect equipment to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns or callbacks.
  • Display leadership by guiding Level I technicians through hands-on troubleshooting steps.
  • Participate in Daikin Learning and regional training programs to maintain certifications.
  • Record billing, inventory, timecards, and other reports promptly.

Location: Washington DC / Bowie, MD

Your Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication
  • Repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
  • Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
  • Perform warranty service application by inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of HVAC equipment and components
  • Direct Level I technicians through hands‑on demonstrations of all necessary steps to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Introduction to centrifugal rebuilds from Lead and Level III technicians
  • Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
  • Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call Explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off‑site learning modules, and Daikin Learning. Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
  • Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
  • Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures
Your Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC or related industry
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
  • Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
  • Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
  • EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
  • OSHA 10 certification (preferred)
  • Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $33.10 - $53.05 in DC/MD. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
