Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking a full-time HVAC Service Technician II to service commercial and industrial equipment across the Richmond and Virginia Beach areas. The role offers training paths and exposure to rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and more.

You'll guide junior techs and participate in ongoing Daikin Learning programs. Ideal candidates have at least 3 years in HVAC, a valid license, and preferred EPA Universal Technician certification.

Qualifications

• HVAC experience: 3+ years in HVAC or related industry.
• Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• Current first aid/CPR card preferred.
• High school diploma or GED; associates degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including diagnostics and routine servicing.
• Repair and replacement of defective equipment and wiring in various systems.
• Inspect equipment to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns.
• Lead Level I technicians through hands‑on troubleshooting demonstrations.
• Maintain records for billing, inventory, and timecards.
• Communicate status updates to customers before, during, and after calls.
• Participate in training and maintain required certifications.
• Ensure safety policies and keep a clean work area.
• Support warranty service applications by testing system functionality.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Associates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)

EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)

OSHA 10 certification (preferred)

Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

Location:Richmond, VA or Virginia Beach, VA

Your Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts and proper lubrication
• Repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Perform warranty service application by inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of HVAC equipment and components
• Direct Level I technicians through hands‑on demonstrations of all necessary steps to troubleshoot and repair equipment
• Introduction to centrifugal rebuilds from Lead and Level III technicians
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call Explain technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off‑site learning modules, and Daikin Learning. Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures

Your Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associates Degree or technical school HVAC certification (preferred)
• 3+ years of experience in HVAC or related industry
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 certification (preferred)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $27.60 - $44.29 in VA. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
