Daikin Applied is seeking a full-time HVAC Service Technician I to service commercial and industrial equipment across the Washington, DC metro area. You’ll receive comprehensive training and work on rooftop units, chillers, boilers, and more, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• HVAC certificate or associate degree preferred.
• 0-2 years of related work experience.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Licensing/training per local law district as required.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification preferred.
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (training provided).
• First aid/CPR card preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain commercial HVAC equipment: logs, clean coils, replace filters/belts, lubricate.
• Repair/replace defective components in HVAC systems (fan coils, heat pumps, AHUs, rooftops, towers).
• Inspect equipment to identify potential problems and prevent breakdowns.
• Assist warranty service by inspecting/testing system functionality.
• Record billing, inventory, timecards, and related reports promptly.
• Explain status and technical details to customers in plain language.
• Engage in Daikin training and maintain certifications.
• Maintain clean work area per standards and safety policies.
• Adhere to OSHA and Daikin safety policies.

Location: Washington, DC, Alexandria, VA, Baltimore, MD, Bowie, MD, Frederick, MD, Germantown, MD

Your Responsibilities

• Assist and perform maintenance of commercial HVAC equipment including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters, replacing belts, and proper lubrication
• Assist in the repair and replacement of defective equipment, components, or wiring related to fan coils, water source heat pumps, applied air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems to prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns or callbacks
• Assist with warranty service application by inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality of HVAC equipment and components
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other articles as required and in a timely manner
• Interact with customers by offering status reports of service before, during, and after each call. Explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers, off‑site learning modules, and Daikin Learning. Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and maintenance of a clean work area are always upheld
• Follow all OSHA and Daikin Applied safety policies and procedures

Your Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Associate’s degree or technical school with an HVAC certificate (preferred)
• 0-2 years of related work experience
• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
• Rotational Emergency Call Support availability as required
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district
• Commercial HVAC industry experience (preferred)
• EPA approved Universal Technician Certification (preferred)
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides this training during onboarding process)
• Current first aid / CPR card (preferred)

The typical hourly pay rate for this position ranges from $25.00 - $ 39.96 in MD and VA. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre‑employment requirements, including verification of employment history, education, background screening, and drug testing where permitted by law. Safety-sensitive positions may require cannabis (marijuana) testing. All testing and employment decisions will comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
