Job summary

Blue Sky Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric is seeking an HVAC service technician to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a range of residential and light commercial equipment including air conditioning systems, heat pumps, furnaces, and related components. This role emphasizes on-time performance, clear customer communication, and accurate job notes.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of HVAC experience, EPA certification, and a valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of HVAC field experience.
EPA certification required.
Pass a drug test and background check.
Proficient English communication for questions, safety concerns, and instructions.
Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR.
Ability to perform multiple technical tasks safely.
Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Basic math and measurement skills.
Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
Physically fit to work in varied conditions.

Responsibilities

Be on time and alert for assigned shift and work entire shift as scheduled.
Manage daily job schedules and time effectively.
Check in with the client at start and end of each task and communicate clearly throughout the visit.
Obtain client signature before and after completing work.
Submit payments promptly (checks or cash) for processing.
Input all materials used into Service Titan for every job.
Respond to office communications in a timely manner.
Check in with dispatcher/supervisor as needed about status.
Secure parts and tools as required for each job.
Consult supervisor or dispatcher when uncertain about tasks.
Communicate with customers clearly to explain work progress and outcomes.
Adjust communication to maximize customer satisfaction.
Create detailed job notes in the customer’s account for future reference.
Share knowledge with coworkers in meetings and one-to-one interactions.
Be open to testing new ideas and implementing process improvements.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace in homes/businesses and in the company vehicle.
Maintain a professional appearance per company standards.
Maintain truck: fuel, oil, routine maintenance; inform fleet of issues; manage inventory of parts and tools.
Understand and abide by company policies; prioritize safety for self, coworkers, and the public.
Follow safety practices and MO-OSHA requirements.

Summary:

Primarily responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing a variety of residential and light commercial equipment including, air conditioning, ductless mini-splits, heat pumps, furnaces, fan coils, rooftop units, economizers, evaporative coolers and humidifiers.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Be on time and alert for assigned shift and work entire shift as scheduled.
Responsible for time management of jobs scheduled each day.
Check in with the client at the beginning and end of each task to make sure they are aware of everything going on throughout the entire visit.
Obtain client signature prior to completing any work as well as after the work is completed.
Turn in checks, or cash at the earliest convenience for processing.
Ensure all materials used for each task are properly inputted into Service Titan.
Respond to all office communications in a timely manner.
Check in as needed to ensure office dispatcher and/or field supervisor are aware of your status.
Secure parts and tools needed throughout the day for various jobs as required.
Consult field supervisor or dispatcher in times of uncertainty.
Ability to communicate with customers in a clear, confident manner throughout the entire service so that they are aware of what is going on inside their home/business.
Ability to adjust your communications to provide the best customer experience possible.
Ability to create detailed job notes in the customer’s account for future reference.
Ability to both teach and learn by sharing thoughts/experiences with your coworkers in meetings and in one-to-one interaction.
Willingness to try new ideas and recommend process improvements to your manager with the objective of improving efficiency/effectiveness.
The ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace both in a customer’s property and your company vehicle.

Maintain a professional and presentable appearance in accordance with company standards, as this role involves regular interaction with clients, customers, or the public.
Maintain assigned truck, including gas, checking oil levels, and ensuring regular preventative maintenance is performed. Inform fleet manager of any issues that arise with the vehicle in a timely manner. Maintains inventory of parts, supplies, and tools in assigned vehicle needed to perform work. Obtain parts, supplies, and tools from inventory or request ordering from Purchasing.
Must understand current company policies and abide by such policies.
Must consider safety one’s primary job, both for personal, co-worker and public benefit, and must have general knowledge of safe working practices and of MO-OSHA requirements.

Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience.
EPA Certification
