Job summary

Kelso Building Services is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician in Charlotte, NC to perform preventative maintenance, diagnose, and repair commercial/industrial HVAC equipment. You will work on rooftop units, VRF systems, boilers, and chillers, ensuring safety and compliance.

You will read schematics and blueprints, document service activities, and communicate findings to clients. A High school diploma or equivalent plus EPA 608 certification is required; travel to sites is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC certification preferred.
• 3+ years as HVAC Service Technician or similar role.
• Experience servicing and/or installing VRF systems.
• EPA 608 certification required.
• Read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair HVAC systems including rooftop units and boilers.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections for performance longevity.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in HVAC equipment.
• Replace or repair motors, compressors, fans, and thermostats.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
• Communicate service findings and recommendations to clients and team.
• Maintain accurate service records and ensure safety compliance.

What You'll Do

• Diagnose and repair HVAC systems, including rooftop units, split systems, boilers, chillers, and heat pumps.


• Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal system performance and longevity.


• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in HVAC equipment.


• Replace or repair defective components such as motors, compressors, fans, and thermostats.


• Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.


• Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding service findings and recommendations.


• Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and system conditions.


• Ensure all work complies with safety standards, building codes, and company policies.

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or HVAC certification preferred.


• 3+ years of experience as an HVAC Service Technician or in a similar role.


• Experience servicing and / or install VRF systems.


• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical circuits, and mechanical components.


• EPA 608 certification (required).


• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.


• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.


• Strong communication and customer service abilities.


• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• NATE certification or equivalent.


• Experience with commercial HVAC systems and equipment.


• Familiarity with digital service tools and mobile work order platforms.
