Job summary

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is seeking an HVAC Repair/PM Technician to service and maintain campus HVAC systems and related equipment. The role will support repairs, inspections, refrigerant management, and seasonal maintenance to ensure reliable operations across university facilities.

Qualified applicants must hold EPA 608 and EPA Type II refrigerant certifications or have the ability to obtain them, with overtime flexibility to support essential university infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Must possess working knowledge of HVAC and related equipment.
  • Ability to use various test instruments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and related equipment.
  • EPA Section 608 certification is required.
  • EPA Type II refrigerant usage certification or ability to obtain is required.

General Information:

James Madison University's Facilities Management is currently hiring for HVAC Repair/Preventative Maintenance Technician. This position will assist with repairs and maintenance of all HVAC and related equipment on campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with the repairs and maintenance of HVAC equipment
  • Performing inspections on equipment
  • Keeping Current with EPA requirements on proper refrigerant usage
  • Assisting with seasonal maintenance on HVAC systems to provide reliable and efficient operation
  • Ordering of parts and materials needed for jobs
  • Maintaining tools and test equipment and keeping in good working condition
  • Providing input for replacements and repairs of HVAC and related systems
Qualifications:
  • Must possess working knowledge of HVAC and related equipment
  • Ability to use various test instruments
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and related equipment
  • Must have EPA section 608 certification
  • Must have EPA type II refrigerant usage certification or ability to obtain
  • Ability to work overtime and/or another temporary shift to provide service to HVAC and refrigeration systems that are vital to the operation of the University
  • Availability for rotating on call responsibilities
