Job summary

Lamar University is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the operation and maintenance of campus HVAC/R systems. This role involves routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, and assisting skilled trades personnel to ensure safe and efficient building operations.

Responsibilities include maintaining records, ordering parts, and adhering to safety and training requirements while providing dependable, customer-focused service to university departments.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid Texas driver’s license.
• Three (3) years of job-related experience in building crafts.
• One (1) year or more of experience with HVAC equipment.
• Associates degree in HVAC/R Technology or related field is preferred.
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.
• Assist craftsmen in implementing preventive maintenance to ensure HVAC systems meet rated life.
• Accomplish assigned work, identify and order required repair parts, and maintain inventory of tools.
• Complete all required safety, vehicle and other job-specific training as directed.
