Job description

Locations : Boston, MA | Hartford, CT | Seattle, WA | Richmond, VA | Pittsburgh, PA | Elkhart, IN.

Pay Rate : $30 - $45 per hour

Position Summary : We are seeking a qualified HVAC / R Service Technician with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field. Candidates with hot side experience are preferred; however, we are also open to technicians with master-level cold side expertise. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC / R systems to ensure optimal performance and customer satisfaction.

What You Will Do :

  • Provide comprehensive service solutions for commercial cooking, refrigeration, ware-washing, and other specialty food service equipment in collaboration with restaurant and hotel managers.
  • Demonstrate your mechanical skills, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in reading schematics and diagrams.
  • Accurately identify, diagnose, and repair commercial kitchen equipment, including ware-washing, refrigeration, cooking, and other specialized food service apparatus.
  • Contact manufacturers when necessary for assistance with diagnosis and part identification.
  • Consult with the Technical Assistance Group for technical support while on site. Install all customer-ordered equipment promptly and expertly, following company policies.
  • Recommend and promote additional services offered by Smart Care as needed. Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time, including work orders, time reports, receipts, and truck stock inventories.
  • Adhere to safe work practices and protocols to prevent accidents. Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle with an accurate inventory of parts and tools.
  • Ensure consistent output levels meet business requirements.

Physical Requirements : Ability to push, pull, reach, kneel, bend, squat, and occasionally lift and carry up to 70 pounds. Experience working with moving parts, pressurized steam equipment, open flames, heated surfaces, liquids, and the potential for electrical shock in wet, humid, or freezing conditions. Capability to work on roofs, ladders, and other elevated surfaces.

Minimum Requirements :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical experience in HVAC, culinary equipment, appliance repair, refrigeration, or related military service.
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in the weekend and evening emergency on-call rotation.
  • Availability for occasional overnight trips as required. This position does not offer immigration sponsorship.

Preferred Requirements :

  • Relevant technical training, licenses, and / or certifications (EPA, CFESA, etc.).
  • Experience in repairing commercial kitchen and / or refrigeration equipment.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision.
