Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Repairs and maintains air handlers, exhaust and supply fans and their appurtenant equipment
• Troubleshoots repairs and maintains refrigeration equipment and systems
• Tests electrical circuits and components for continuity, using electrical test equipment
• Installs, connects and adjusts thermostats, humidistat and timers

Secondary Duties And Responsibilities

• Assembles, positions and mounts heating or cooling equipment following blueprints
• Assists with preventative maintenance records and log books

Minimum Education And Qualifications

• Four years of experience in the HVAC trade
• Must possess and maintain an active State of Connecticut Occupational License S-2, D-2 or above as well as a minimum of a Type 1 and 2 refrigerant recovery certification
• Must pass both oral and written technical proficiency tests and demonstrate skills necessary to perform job functions
• Must be able to read and work from blueprints

Competencies:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with running building management systems.

Training Requirements

• Working knowledge of HVAC including concepts of voltage, current, and power, and the properties and uses of electrical components
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety requirements of the trade
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and practices used in HVAC trade
• OSHA Lockout/Tag out procedures
• Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure training
• Respirator training and fit testing
• Man lift, forklift, confined space, and fall protection training

Physical Demands And Work Environment

• Ability to work in smoking environments and various weather conditions, including extreme hot and cold
• Lift up to 50 lbs
• Bend, stoop, reach, and climb ladders
• Work various shifts and flexible hours
