Job summary

CNE-CMI JV LLC seeks a Journeyman HVAC Mechanic to operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems in a newly built government facility. You’ll work on a modern plant and building automation, contributing to the facility’s first maintenance team from turnover onward.

Emergency response and routine maintenance of critical cooling units are key, with eligibility for a Secret clearance and EPA certification as prerequisites. Work is performed in a secure environment with safety protocols in place.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Summary

We're hiring a Journeyman-level HVAC Mechanic to operate, maintain, and repair the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems supporting a newly built government facility — including critical cooling units protecting sensitive electronic and communications equipment. You'll work on a modern HVAC plant and building automation/control system, with the chance to be part of the facility's first maintenance team from building turnover forward.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, calibrate, repair, program, and balance HVAC and facility-related control systems in accordance with ASHRAE standards.
• Perform required winterizing of all air handling units to prevent coil freezing, and maintain all critical cooling units supporting sensitive equipment spaces.
• Complete and submit refrigerant reports any time refrigerant is added, recovered, or lost from a system.
• Support periodic testing of specialized protective systems as required.
• Perform HVAC-side water treatment duties — inspections, chemical additive management, and corrective actions to control scale, mineral/sediment buildup, algae, and corrosion — and document monthly as required.
• Maintain building automation/control system programming, schedules, set points, setbacks, backups, and trending data.
• Document all work accurately and promptly in the Government's designated work management system, including as-found and as-left conditions.
• Respond to Priority 1 (emergency) HVAC calls within required timelines and support root-cause analysis on repeat failures.

Required Qualifications

• Journeyman-level HVAC certification/licensure (or state-recognized equivalent).
• Current EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Universal preferred) for refrigerant handling.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards and building automation/control systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mission-critical or data-center-grade cooling systems.
• Experience with water treatment programs for HVAC and/or domestic water systems.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work is performed primarily inside a secure, controlled-access government facility, with some exposure to mechanical/electrical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor conditions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work from ladders and lifts, and respond to after-hours emergency calls as required by the position. All personnel must comply with our safety program, including PPE, Lock-Out/Tag-Out, and confined space procedures as applicable to the role.
