Qualifications

Job Description

HVAC Technician III is responsible for the maintenance, repair, installation, and operation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R). This role ensures that all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and hospital protocols. The technician also plays a critical role in maintaining patient comfort, air quality, and proper environmental conditions critical for medical operations.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and control issues.
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain and repair HVAC/R equipment including chillers, air handling units, VAV systems, split systems, exhaust fans, and refrigeration units.
  • Maintain documentation of all maintenance and repairs using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Monitor and adjust building management systems (BMS) and energy management systems for optimal performance.
  • Ensure that temperature, humidity, and pressurization are maintained in patient care areas, labs, operating rooms, and pharmacies in compliance with infection control and regulatory standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, Joint Commission).
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance according to schedules and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications


Required:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. 5+ years experience in HVAC or relevant area.
3. Universal EPA Certification.

Preferred:

Refrigeration Certification
