Vocational/Technical training a Commonwealth of Kentucky Journeyman license, Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification and two years of related experience. Pre-employment physical exam required. Valid driver's license required and must be insurable by the University's insurance carrier. Grade 5 (Hourly)
Position Description:

Service, install, troubleshoot refrigeration systems, boilers, cooling towers and chillers, air handlers, steam, gas-fired appliances, pumps, valves, and system piping, and special equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Refrigeration Systems: Service, install, troubleshoot, and safely handle refrigerants using standard safe practices and adhering to federal refrigerant guidelines as well as documenting any transfer of refrigerant.
  • Boilers: Service, install, maintain, clean, and trouble shoot hot water supply, hydronic heating, steam, associated piping, insulation, and any other pressure vessel.
  • Cooling Towers and Chillers: Service, install, maintain, clean, and trouble shoot water-cooled and air-cooled chillers and their associated condensers and cooling towers, piping, and insulation.
  • Steam: Service, install, maintain, clean, and trouble shoot steam piping, control valves, condensate return systems, and insulation.
  • Air Handling Units: Service, install, maintain, clean, troubleshoot, and insulate, including but not limited to, supply air fans, return air fans, exhaust fans, and makeup air fans.
  • Gas-Fired Appliances: Service, install, maintain, clean, troubleshoot, and insulate gas-fired appliances.
  • Renovation: Service, fabricate, install, maintain, clean, troubleshoot, insulate, and order materials for all aspects of renovation work.
  • Pumps, Valves, and System Piping: Service, install, maintain, clean, troubleshoot, and insulate, including but not limited to, all aspects of hot/chilled water and condensate return pumps, seals, bearings, coupling, isolation valves, control valves, proper shaft alignment, and related piping.
  • Special Equipment - install, maintain, clean, troubleshoot, and insulate, including but not limited to, all aspects of environmental boxes, growth chambers, air compressors/air driers, vacuum pumps, liebert units, spot coolers, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and autoclaves.
  • Other related duties - this position is an essential position. It will be required to work overtime and be on the call-in/standby schedules, and work scheduled events.

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
