The HVAC Technician/Mechanic II, working under general supervision, is responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing various components of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including heat pumps and centralized air conditioning units up to 250 tons with multiple zone applications.
Facilities Management
UMBC’s Facilities Management (FM) department strives to provide excellence in planning, design, construction, operations and maintenance of UMBC’s facilities, grounds and utilities. Our staff maintains 70 university buildings on 512 acres of grounds and provides service to nearly 3.7 million gross square feet of space.
The HVAC Technician/Mechanic II, working under general supervision, is responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing various components of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, including heat pumps and centralized air conditioning units up to 250 tons with multiple zone applications. They also troubleshoot and maintain HVAC, piping, electrical, and control systems while ensuring an understanding of building mechanical operations for user comfort and efficiency. Additionally, the technician manages work activities utilizing the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) AiM, completing required training programs, and contributing to the efficient operation of building systems.
A background check will be required.
Pay Range 14 (minimum: 56,773 maximum: 93,607) based on the University System of Maryland (USM) Pay Program.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, Memorandum of Understanding, USM Board of Regent policies, internal equity, budget and qualifications and experience. Most salary offers will be close to the minimum part of the range.
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
