Reporting to the Maintenance/Construction Supervisor II, this position is primarily responsible for providing journey level work in the areas of Heating/Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Hot Water Supply, Plumbing and Food Service Equipment at a multi-custody female correctional facility. Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $37,782 - $66,120 .
Note to Current State Employees:
The salary grade for this position is NC08 (Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About Anson Correctional Institution:
Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following:
Documented knowledge of practices, methods, materials and equipment used in the operation, maintenance, and repair of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma ANDthree years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution and control systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: REQUIREScurrent certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.
