Job summary

Chipton-Ross is seeking an HVAC Mechanic Level 3 for a contract opportunity in El Segundo, CA. The role is on-site with no hybrid/remote options, supporting South Bay California Facilities.

The candidate will perform repairs, maintenance, and preventive tasks on HVAC equipment, verify blueprints and wiring diagrams, and operate building automation and control systems. A universal EPA 608 license and CA driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; accredited program.
• 4+ years of HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, plumbing, and mechanical systems experience.
• Must own basic HVAC tools.
• Universal EPA License 608 and an active California Driver's License.
• Ability to work 9/80A schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on HVAC and related equipment (AHUs, Chillers, Cooling Towers, VAVs, Heaters, Boilers, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Coolers, Freezers).
• Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance needs.
• Use hand and power tools to troubleshoot, test, inspect, and repair machines and equipment.
• Review blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
• Install, service, modify, rebuild, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems per codes and safety regs.
• Monitor and maintain central HVAC building automation systems and pneumatic/direct digital controls.
• Document and maintain maintenance records and service reports.
• Be physically capable of climbing, lifting over 50 lbs, and following written and verbal instructions.
• Work on an on-site basis; on-call responsibilities may apply.

• High School Diploma or equivalent, with 4 years of experience in HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Must own Basic HVAC Tools.
• Must possess a Universal EPA License 608 and an Active California Driver's License.
• Ability to work 9/80A Schedule.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

seeking an HVAC Mechanic Level 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals! This position will be on site supporting our South Bay California Facilities in El Segundo, CA.

This hands-on position requires knowledge and experience in repairs and maintenance of facilities and/or machines and equipment. The role is fully on-site; hybrid or remote work is not available.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment (AHUs, Chillers, Cooling Towers, VAVs, Heaters, Boilers, Air Compressors, Air Dryers, Coolers, Freezers).
• Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine necessary repair and maintenance work to prevent breakdowns.
• Use hand and power tools to troubleshoot, test, inspect, and repair machines and equipment.
• Review and follow blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
• Install, service, modify, rebuild, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
• Monitor and maintain centralized HVAC building automation systems, including pneumatic systems and direct digital control.
• Document and maintain records for the Maintenance Department, including preventive maintenance activities and service reports.
• Be physically capable of working in high places from ladders, able to lift over 50 lbs, and follow exacting written and verbal instructions.
• Work on an on-call basis and handle responsibilities assigned by management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

• Written and Verbal Communication Skills
• Strong Interpersonal Skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
• Strong commercial HVAC and refrigeration experience.
• Experience in Aerospace/Defense Industry.
• Strong computer, math, analytical, and planning skills.
• Experience with building maintenance management and tracking systems (work orders, Computer-Aided Facilities Management, Maximo).
• Knowledge of building automation control systems and troubleshooting I/O.
• Good communication skills and experience with Microsoft Outlook
• Experience working on HVAC equipment in a manufacturing environment that serves production machines.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or equivalent/GED is required.
• School must be accredited.

HOURS:

• 9/80A workweek. 100% on-site at El Segundo, CA facility.
