Job summary

McCormick & Company in Hunt Valley, MD is seeking an HVAC Mechanic on the 1st shift to operate, repair, maintain, and inspect heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems at the Hunt Valley Plant.

Under the Maintenance Facilities Manager, you will perform preventive maintenance, document tasks in SAP CMMS, manage tools and AHU inventories, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep production running.

Qualifications

• HVAC mechanics with strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration codes.
• 5 years of HVAC/Facilities maintenance experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; forklift licensing preferred or attainable.
• Ability to read blueprints or PID drawings and use SAP CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Operate, repair, maintain, and inspect HVAC systems per preventive maintenance schedule.
• Complete work orders and document activities in SAP CMMS.
• Order parts and manage inventory for AHUs across multiple sites.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and improve systems.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Facilities Manager, the HVAC Mechanic is responsible the operation, repair, maintenance and installation/inspection of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary based on requirements and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Understands and demonstrates knowledge of electrical, plumbing and refrigeration codes and practices, and coordinates between other trades
• Completes all preventative maintenance work orders as assigned performing inspections,
• completing all required documentation (computerized and paper) associated with performing maintenance tasks
• use the SAP CMMS software to complete work orders and requisition materials provide specific actionable information
• possess troubleshooting skills, identify root cause and recommend improvements on a continuous basis with cross functional teams
• Maintain critical inventory needed to keep operations running, maintain and accounts for tools used
• Manage all filter inventory for all AHUs throughout three main sites

Required Qualifications

• Commercial Mechanic for HVAC
• CFC certification and knowledge of 3 phase power
• Candidate must have knowledge of PM (preventative Maintenance) practices
• Meets standards in overall performance rating in most recent performance review.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Five years relevant HVAC/Facilities maintenance experience
• Ability to use all hand power tools including portable saws and masonry drills
• Familiar with shop tools including metal cutting saws, sheet metal shears, jointers, planners, forming machines, drill press, lathes, milling machines
• Demonstrated process improvement ability and leadership skills
• Ability to lift 70 lbs
• Must be able to work in cross-functional, self-directed teams
• Must be flexible and adaptable with work schedule to support business needs
• Ability to read and work from blueprints or PID drawings
• Must have or the ability to obtain a forklift license along with an aerial life license

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed gas fitter preferred
• Ability to weld, braze and use heat in straightening metal
• Knowledge and understanding of plumbing preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of Fire/Life/Safety systems preferred
• Understanding of Food Plant Practices/GMPs
• Understanding of SAP

Base Salary: $26.78 - $40.18

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Dividend Program.
