St. Luke's in Bethlehem is seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanic to maintain, repair, and operate industrial boilers, chillers, and related HVAC equipment to provide a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

You will perform preventive maintenance, document work, troubleshoot building automation systems, and coordinate with the Engineering/Facilities teams while adhering to codes and hospital procedures. On-call rotations may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Operates, maintains, repairs boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment and related systems.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance and tests, records readings and monitors equipment.
  • Diagnoses and corrects issues with environmental control systems and building automation.
  • Documents work performed using established procedures and CMMS.
  • Supports safety, compliance with local/state/national codes, and hospital policies.
  • May be on-call and collaborates with engineering and facilities teams.

The HVAC mechanic is responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, and repaid of Industrial boilers, chillers, HVAC equipment, and all associated equipment to ensure all heating, air conditioning systems, and support systems are functioning properly. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs according to established Engineering practices on all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment to provide and environment that is conducive to the well-being of patients, hospital staff, and visitors. Makes adjustment to the environmental control system as necessary to maintain an appropriate environment.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operates, maintains , repairs, test , record readings and monitors all boilers, chillers, heating and air conditioning equipment, and all ventilation and support systems.
  • Assures that boilers, chillers, support systems and related equipment are operating properly. Makes connections, adjustments and/or repairs as necessary.
  • C ompletes all necessary repairs on assigned equipment in an expeditious manner to minimize any disruptions that may occur which could affect the well-being of patients and staff's ability to provide required services.
  • Evaluates problems that may be encountered to determine their seriousness and corrects or reports to engineering supervisor.
  • Investigates, evaluates, and remedies environmental problems to provide a healthful and pleasant environment for patient , staff, and visitors.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance on assigned equipment utilizing current professional standards and provides legible written and electronic documentation as to what was done according to established Engineering procedures.
  • Must be competent to work on Building Automatic Systems and other related HVAC control systems.
  • Su bmits material requisitions and/or appropriate information according to established Engineering procedures for the repair or replacement of assigned equipment.
  • Complete jobs thoroughly and accurately in a timely manner .
  • Cooperates with other departments and work groups.
  • Works independently, in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrates both problem solving and prevention skills equal to the expected level of responsibility to their jobs.
  • Completes assignments within the allotted time, taking into consideration the needs of patients, customers, and client.

  • Organizes and delivers service in the proper order. Displays good organizational skills and utilizes resources appropriately.
  • Performs duties with initiative and willingness. Shares necessary information with coworkers when appropriate or needed.
  • Remains composed in stressful situations and takes action to restore calm if job appropriate .
  • Be a member of the security alert and disaster response teams.
  • Assist with other security duties as required .
  • Performs work in accordance with local, state, and national code compliance in his/her zone and reports violations directly to the supervisory and management personnel in Engineering.
  • Uses hand, power, and technical related tools and test equipment.
  • Treats other with consideration, courtesy, and respect.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.
  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient, and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external). Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
  • Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes, and practices. Accurately documents task completing utilizing computerized maintenance management system.
  • Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
  • \"On Call\" Rotation may be required.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Requires standing for up to eight (8) hours per day, walking for up to four (4) hours per day, and sitting for extended periods of up to two (2) hours. Lifting loads of up to 60 lbs. and pushing loads of up to 300 lbs. Bending, crouching, reaching, twisting, climbing (stairs and ladders), and
