Prisma Health in Richland Hospital seeks an experienced HVAC/Mechanical Technician to repair and maintain air handling units, packaged A/C/heating equipment, and related hospital systems.

You will perform both unscheduled and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment across the facility.Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical controls, assisting other trades, responding to emergencies, and ensuring safe, hygienic work practices with proper lockout/tagout.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 3 years HVAC/Mechanical experience
  • Federal Recovery Certificate preferred
  • Air Conditioning license preferred
  • Trade school for HVAC/refrigeration/electrical/DDC control preferred
  • Mechanical License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform unscheduled and preventive maintenance on packaged A/C/heating equipment, air handling units and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control repairs on AHUs, packaged units and VAV systems.
  • Assist other trades with repairs to pumps, kitchen equipment, piping systems and related hospital mechanical systems.
  • Respond to emergency calls and support on HVAC, power outages, fire response, etc. Must participate in call-back with proficient mechanical tasks.
  • Maintain equipment safely, log work orders, and ensure hygiene and lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
  • Assist in installing ductwork, packaged A/C units, exhaust fans, VAV boxes and other mechanical equipment for renovations or new construction.
  • Troubleshoot and repair variable speed drives and building controls; use multi-meters and test instruments.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance to vacuum and medical gas components and distribution systems.
  • Maintain steam components and piping, including strainers and traps.

Job Summary

To repair and maintain air handling units, commercial kitchen equipment, variable air volume boxes, fan coil units, refrigeration equipment, packaged air conditioning/heating equipment, exhaust fans, pneumatic controlled thermostats, compressed air systems and other hospital electrical and mechanical equipment.

Accountabilities
  • Responsible for performing both unscheduled and preventive maintenance related mechanical repairs to include packaged A/C and heating equipment, air handling units, pneumatically controlled thermostat systems, fan coil units, variable air volume boxes, and other mechanical equipment comprising the hospital’s mechanical utility system.10%
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical control related repairs to packaged air conditioning/heating units, commercial air handling units, commercial kitchen equipment, and VAV mechanical and electrical failures. 10%
  • Responsible for assisting other trades within the department with repairs to include pump replacements, repairs to commercial kitchen equipment, plumbing supply and drainage piping systems, and other related systems comprising the hospital’s mechanical utility system. 10%
  • Responds to emergency calls and assists qualified technicians and other trained professionals on ETO gas Med Gas/Vacuum leaks, Power outages, HVAC, Plumbing, fire response, etc. Must demonstrate proficiency in all mechanical related tasks in order to participate in the call-back program .10%
  • Maintains assigned equipment in a safe and orderly manner and responds to emergency calls. Performs PM duties to all assigned equipment and enters information into appropriate work order system.10%
  • Responsible for completing work orders in complete and timely manner to include all housekeeping duties when work is complete. Ensure work is performed with the utmost awareness for safety and hygiene. Also, ensure proper lockout Tagout procedures are being followed.10%
  • Must be capable of installing ductwork, packaged A/C units, exhaust fans, VAV boxes, fan coil units, and other mechanical equipment in support of facility renovations or new construction activities. 10%
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and making repairs to variable speed drives and other building control systems within the hospital. Must be proficient with troubleshooting with a multi-meter (voltmeter, current meter, refrigerant gauges, and other mechanical test and measurement instruments. 10%
  • Responsible for performing repairs and maintenance to the hospital’s vacuum and medical gas components and distribution systems. 10%
  • Responsible for maintaining low and high pressure steam components and steam piping systems. This includes the capability of making repairs to steam strainers, steam traps, and other steam related steam components. 10%
