Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking a Master Trades Specialist (AQT) to perform HVAC repair and installation across a university campus.

The role focuses on ensuring HVAC and refrigeration systems operate reliably, with a 40-hour work week on a 4-day schedule (5:00 am–3:30 pm, Sunday to Wednesday). Requires nine months of skilled-trade training plus three years of experience, a valid driver's license, and EPA Universal Certification for AQT positions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigeration equipment.
• Experience in repair or installation in university facilities.
• Knowledge of safety and operating procedures for HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities

• Reviews job orders and blueprints; inspects site and determines best method to complete project.
• Estimates materials needed and arranges for them to be at the job site.
• Performs complex repair or installation on university facilities and property using specialized training in a skilled trade.
• Assists outside contractors and crafts-people as needed.
• Maintains tools, equipment and work area in clean, orderly condition.
• May prepare paperwork and maintain files.
