Rollins College seeks a service‑oriented HVAC/Maintenance Mechanic to join the Maintenance team.
Responsibilites
- Perform routine service and basic repairs to water, waste disposal, HVAC systems, and minor electrical systems.
- Conduct routine HVAC maintenance, including filter replacement, drain pan and coil cleaning, and condensate drain repair/unclogging.
- Maintain hot water heaters and boiler systems by cleaning strainers, flushing coils, and replacing heating elements.
- Carry out miscellaneous painting and carpentry tasks such as drywall patching, furniture repair, staging, riser tear‑down, and acoustic ceiling installation/repair.
- Manage a supply of personal tools required for work (supplied by college).
- Excavate and backfill for underground conduit, plumbing, and lighting installation.
- Pickup and deliver parts or equipment as needed.
- Climb ladders and use lifts with a harness.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school education.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant job experience.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain a Florida driver’s license within 30 days of employment with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of tools, techniques, and procedures for miscellaneous plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry repairs and installations.
- Knowledge of local city ordinances and codes, and OSHA workplace safety standards.
- Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions and diagrams.
- Ability to work independently.
Work Schedule
The position is scheduled for 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week. Schedules may be discussed during interviews. The incumbent will be called in during outside hours to respond to emergencies and may be required to have an on‑call phone for 1–3 weeks a year, including a Saturday shift. Flexible or overtime (evenings or weekends) may be required.

- Campus‑based front‑facing customer service role in indoor and outdoor environments.
- Requires physical strain including bending, lifting, and standing for long periods.
- Must handle lifting and carrying heavy objects and equipment, requiring punctuality and daily attendance.
