Job summary

Mike’s Mechanical Services is seeking a Lead Installer to install HVAC systems in residential settings, following manufacturer specifications and local codes. You will lead installation activities, supervise helpers, and ensure quality workmanship and safety on every project.

The role requires experience in HVAC installation, mastery of ductwork and refrigerant piping, and the ability to troubleshoot and commission systems.

Qualifications

• Previous HVAC installation experience or enrollment in appropriate schooling (determined by management).
• Requires a high school diploma and/or any equivalent of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the job.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC equipment into residential customer homes per manufacturer specifications, company policy, local and state required codes.
• Troubleshoot, install, start-up, and operate HVAC equipment to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Install flex and sheet metal duct systems in residential buildings to AMI Quality Standards, required code and job specifications.
• Install refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering.
• Ensure gas line connections and fittings are properly secured.
• Cut, frame, and nail outlets for holes as required by job specs.
• Verify thermostat functionality and system operation.
• Load materials and equipment into company vehicle for each scheduled job.
• Adhere to safety trainings and company policy; support Install Helpers.
• Attend required meetings and trainings.

Job Details

Location: 1005 Warner Avenue, Lewiston, ID 83501. Salary range: $30.00–$40.00 per hour. Position: Lead Installer. Reports to: Install Manager. Work hours: 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Non‑exempt; overtime may be required.

Essential Job Functions

• Install HVAC equipment into residential customer homes per manufacturer specifications, company policy, local and state required codes.
• Effectively perform the functions of equipment troubleshooting, installation, start‑up, operation and other duties as required to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Perform installation of flex and sheet metal duct systems in residential buildings to AMI Quality Standards, required code and job specifications.
• Perform installation of refrigerant lines to air conditioning units, including brazing and soldering.
• Ensure gas line connections and fittings are properly secured.
• Perform metal and wood hole cutting, framing and nailing outlets as required by job specifications.
• Ensure functionality of thermostats to control HVAC system is operational.
• Verify all materials and equipment required for each scheduled job and load into company vehicle.
• Perform all duties in accordance with appropriate safety trainings and regulations as defined by company policy and procedure.
• Ensure that company vehicle is maintained and operated in accordance to company driving policy.
• Provide knowledge, training and guidance to Install Helpers to assist in the development of skills necessary to perform HVAC installation job requirements.
• Participate and attend all required employee meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours

This is a non‑exempt position. Work hours to be determined based on the needs of the business. Overtime may be required to meet business needs.

Requires strong time‑management skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, maintain a high level of professionalism and customer‑service standards in stressful situations, effective verbal and written communication, a self‑starter with excellent problem‑solving, analytical skills and mechanical aptitude.

Education and Experience

Previous HVAC installation experience or enrollment in appropriate schooling (determined by management). Requires a high school diploma and/or any equivalent of education and experience to meet the essential functions of the job.

Work Environment

Frequently works in outside weather conditions. May be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures and/or conditions. Occasionally exposed to hot, wet and humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Moderately loud noise level while in the field. Occasionally exposed to dark, confined workspaces such as attics or crawl spaces. May be required to perform work from ladders and heights.

Physical Demands

Moderate to heavy working conditions. Frequently required to stand, talk and hear. Constantly required to use hand and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and walk. Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Periods of prolonged standing may be required.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct supervisory responsibility. Will provide support to Supervisor with training and guidance for Install Helpers. All questionable matters are referred to Supervisor.

Travel

Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving history. Must remain insurable under company insurance policy. Regular travel between Mike’s Mechanical Services and job sites expected during normal business hours and on‑call shifts.
