Position Summary

The Journeyman Installer is responsible for performing HVAC Installation up to the Ongaro & Sons codes and quality standards while upholding all city, county, and manufacture codes/requirements. This position will be required to install all residential equipment, duct work and IAQ products. Must be comfortable in performing all duties relating to residential and light commercial HVAC installation as described below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Be able to communicate effectively with their project coordinator to ensure a smooth installation
  • Understand how to read mechanical drawings, code books and manufacture installation manuals
  • Have a strong knowledge of all residential equipment: Mini split single & Multi zone systems, conventional heating and cooling systems, modulating equipment, package units both gas/electric and heat pumps, zone systems and conventional heat pumps
  • Be able to communicate effectively with the customer regarding their project overview and progress
  • Strong understanding of how a HVAC system should optimally work
  • Understand duct designs and layout: Able to perform air balancing with a flow hood
  • Ability to work with sheet metal and make transitions as needed
  • Diagnose problems, testing and making adjustments to HVAC systems
  • Understanding of low voltage electrical and basic diagnostic skills when issues arise
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to lead a team and perform all work duties in a timely manner
  • Using tech support to help resolve troubleshooting issues
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintaining clean and orderly work areas
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • High school diploma/GED
  • At least 3 years experience in the HVAC Installation field or Trade school is required
  • EPA certification is required
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to use an iPad effectively
  • Able to pass a background check
  • Able to pass a physical exam
  • Clean driving record
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
