Job description

The Installer – Lead Mechanic Pro provides a high-quality customer experience by performing heating and air conditioning installations that meet company standards. Installations will include Advanced Controls and Troubleshooting abilities. This position will also supervise the work of other installers to maintain an exceptional and timely job performance.

Requirements

  1. Must have a valid driver’s license
  2. Work from 28’ extension ladder and 12’ step ladder
  3. Must hold EPA Universal Refrigerant Handling License
  4. Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
  5. Ability to work in usually loud conditions
  6. Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell
  7. Sitting may be required up to 75% of the time due to the primary function of driving
  8. Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus due to the constant maneuvering of vehicle in tight and high traffic areas.
  9. Meet all qualifications and have all tools required for Junior Tech to Lead Mechanic Pro levels

Skills

  5. Safely operate genie and scissor lifts
  6. Ability to install and troubleshoot air conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, and air handlers (including geothermal)
  7. Ability to troubleshoot the refrigeration cycle
  8. Advanced knowledge of line and low voltage systems. Ability to connect multiple accessories including zoning systems.
  9. Design, install and troubleshoot duct systems
  10. Ability to install hydronic systems
  11. Ability to install multizone and branch box style mini-split systems with complicated layouts

Expectations & Responsibilities

  1. Adhere to vehicle policies and procedures
  2. Assist with daily equipment staging and job preparation
  3. Identify & report issues with any company tools or vehicles
  4. Oversee loading and replenishment of truck on daily basis
  5. Work well with customers, co-workers, subcontractors, and vendors
  6. Ensure all jobs are completed within the labor budget
  7. Complete all paperwork on a daily basis to include job packets, timecards, and any other installation forms
  8. Troubleshoot residential and light commercial systems
  9. Work a staggered schedule if required
  10. Obtain residential air balancing certification or ability to measure airflow and balance a duct system
  11. Knowledge and application of local and codes – make sure the job will pass inspection
  12. Manage installers on current projects and assist with supervision of additional install teams
  13. Follow instructions from supervisor and/or dispatcher
  14. Size and draw ductwork correctly
  15. Train all installation employees
  16. Consult on customer complaints and find solutions that benefit both customer and company
  17. Always maintain a professional appearance and attitude
  18. Other duties as assigned
  19. Oversee each installation from start to finish without supervision
