Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking skilled HVAC VRF Journeymen to join our Oakland, CA area new-construction team. You will install, lay out, and commission VRF systems for commercial projects, reading plans and ensuring code-compliant installations.

The role requires 3–5+ years in HVAC with VRF experience, VRF certification(s), and strong problem-solving on-site. Safety, quality workmanship, and documentation are essential to success.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of HVAC experience focused on new construction and VRF systems.
• VRF certification(s) (Daikin VRV, Mitsubishi CITY MULTI, LG Multi V, or equivalent).
• Ability to read blueprints, refrigerant piping diagrams, and technical drawings.
• EPA Universal Certification required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Install VRF HVAC systems in new construction per plans, specifications, and local codes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, refrigerant piping diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
• Install VRF outdoor condensing units, indoor fan coil units, branch selector/controllers, refrigerant piping, and related components.
• Braze and pressure-test refrigerant line sets to manufacturer and code standards.
• Ensure proper system layout, refrigerant charge, airflow, and equipment placement per manufacturer specifications.
• Install and terminate low-voltage VRF control wiring and communication cabling between indoor/outdoor units and controllers.
• Coordinate with general contractors, supervisors, and other trades on-site.
• Perform evacuation, leak testing, start-ups, and full system commissioning.
• Identify and resolve installation issues or conflicts in the field.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Comply with OSHA regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Accurately complete job documentation, commissioning reports, and manufacturer start-up paperwork as required.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of VRF system design, refrigerant piping practices, and controls integration
• Manufacturer VRF certification(s) (Daikin VRV, Mitsubishi CITY MULTI, LG Multi V, or equivalent)
• Ability to read blueprints, refrigerant piping diagrams, and technical drawings
• Knowledge of local mechanical codes and refrigerant handling regulations
• Proficient in brazing, pressure testing, evacuation, and refrigerant charging procedures
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
• EPA Universal Certification required
