Job summary

Johnson Controls is hiring an apprentice HVAC technician in Pasadena, CA. You will learn HVAC systems hands-on through our Service Technical Academy (STA) with milestone recognition and wage progression under the local union contract.

You’ll perform pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment service, troubleshoot issues, respond to basic warranty calls, and keep customers, contractors, and supervisors informed of progress. A current driver's license and strong safety mindset are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with HVAC installation/pipefitting.
• The ability to perform general building maintenance.
• Self starter with ability to work independently.
• This position requires a current driver’s license.
• Willingness to supplement on-the-job training with training provided through the apprenticeship program.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• EPA Refrigeration certification.

Apprentices shall perform all pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment service and all other work coming under the labor agreement assigned by the Employer, limited only by their capabilities as determined by the Employer, at the respective apprentice rate of pay, and shall perform all assigned work under the direction of the Employer. Troubleshoots and resolves problems. Responds to basic warranty calls. Keeps JCI, contractors, and the customer informed of job progress and issues as needed.

This is a Bargaining Unit Position

Pay Range: $20-35 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. However, we recognize that exceptional candidates may bring unique skills
