Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an experienced HVAC Facilities TL Thermal Engineer to support the Taylor/ TX fab operations. You will oversee day-to-day maintenance, improve reliability, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with operations and external resources.

The role focuses on cooling, heating, and process cooling water systems within a 24/7 semiconductor environment. A strong background in mechanical or chemical engineering and 8+ years in related fields is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in related engineering fields such as plant operations, reliability engineering, or design engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required.
• Experience working in a manufacturing or facilities environment is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee HVAC facilities activities to support operations and reliability.
• Review processes and equipment data to ensure performance within specifications and adequate capacity.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement on maintenance procedures.

Position Summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a highly motivated engineer to fill the role of HVAC Facilities TL Thermal Engineer on the HVAC Engineering Team to support the Samsung Taylor Facilities Operations Group. The Engineer and their team will work to tackle our most complex problems, initiate improvement projects, review designs, and manage projects while overseeing day to day activities including Breakdown Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance for improving quality and reliability in support of a semiconductor wafer fab.
This role is within HVAC team at the Taylor, TX Facility. The HVAC thermal team scope includes cooling systems (cooling towers, condenser water, chilled water), heating systems (steam/condensate, hot water), Fab air conditioning (outside air makeup units, dry cooling coils, water spray/scrubbing system), general air conditioning (AHUs, EHPs, CRAC units), and process cooling water (tool heat removal).
Facilities HVAC systems are designed to run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year without interruption.

Role and Responsibilities

• Reviewsandanalyzesprocessandequipmentdatatoensuretheyarerunningwithinspecificationsandsufficientcapacityisavailabletomeetoperatingdemand.
• Successfullyinterfaceswithinternalcustomerorganizationstosustainuninterruptedoperations.
• ImprovesequipmentreliabilitythroughFMEA,rootcauseanalysis,and8Dproblemsolving.
• Supportthedevelopmentandimprovementofoperationsandmaintenanceprocedures/programstoensureuseofbestpractices.
• Incorporatesbestpracticesintositespecifications,standards,andstandardoperatingprocedures.
• Forecastscostsandexpendituresforoperationandmaintenanceassignedsystems.
• Developscostreductionprojectsthatreducedoperatingandmaintenanceexpensesofthosesystems.
• Mentorsjuniorengineerstofacilitatecareerdevelopmentandtechnicalexpertise.
• Cultivating,sustainingandmanagingsystemtoensuresitesafety,qualityofoperation,andenvironmentalstewardship.
• Implementprocesses&procedurestoimproveandstandardizeworkacrosstheteam&site.
• Provideindustrycontributionsthroughconferencesandotherprofessionalorganizations.

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll need:

• QualifiedcandidateswillhaveaBachelor’sdegreeinMechanicalorChemicalEngineering.
• 8+yearsofexperience.
• Previousexperienceinplantoperations,reliabilityengineering,ordesignengineering.

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $145,000. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
