Job Overview

Johnson Controls Inc. seeks HVAC technicians to support its fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. The role involves providing service and support for air‑cooled and water‑cooled chillers, industrial chillers, boilers, and related HVAC equipment.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to solve facility inefficiencies and service‑related items.
• Act as a trusted advisor, delivering solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service.
• Make recommendations, identify upsell opportunities, and prepare quotes to support solutions.
• Lead large complex repairs, jobs, or retrofits for chillers, compressors, turbines, absorption chillers, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
• Travel 10–20% to support startup, commissioning, and aftermarket service activities.
• Provide on‑the‑job training and participate in local classroom training for other technicians.

Qualifications

• Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
• Practical experience with air‑cooled or water‑cooled chillers, industrial chillers, AHUs, or large rooftop ducted units.
• Ability to lead complex repairs and understand centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, absorption chillers, screw chillers, and ammonia or hydrocarbon system components.
• Ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
• Extensive HVAC systems experience (chilled water loops, pumps, compressor enthalpy, troubleshooting, rebuild, shaft alignment, vibration analysis).
• Proficiency with large‑tonnage VSDs, medium‑voltage VSDs, multiple OEM chiller panels and controllers, and AllenBrady control systems.
• Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $47.44 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
