Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and repair the facility’s HVAC systems to maintain safe and efficient operation.
- Monitor HVAC operation, noting current status, identifying potential problems, and taking corrective action where appropriate.
- Assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance and standard operating procedures.
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, alterations, and routine operations on facility systems.
- Record and log all work performed, complete work order slips, and compile required reports in a timely and complete manner.
- Respond to routine, precautionary and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
- Occasionally enter areas with fumes, airborne particles, or toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Maintain adequate inventory of spare parts and supplies, prepare requisition forms for purchases, and pick up supplies and materials from vendors.
- Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or vocational training.
- At least five (5) years of related experience.
- HVAC certification or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of methods, principles, and practices for operation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems.
- Thorough understanding of operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for facility events.
- Proficient use of tools, equipment, and methodologies for HVAC operations and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of commercial refrigeration and commercial kitchen equipment (gas, electrical, mechanical).
- Possession of any licenses, certificates, or training required by local, state or national authorities for operating facility equipment.
- Basic working knowledge of electrical and plumbing to assist Electrical Technician & Engineer as needed.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and related materials.
- Adherence to all safety precautions, building codes, rules, regulations, risk management, and emergency procedures.
- Meeting physical demands including mobility, lifting, carrying, moving, climbing, working from heights, and tolerance of moderate to loud noise.
- Operating light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, scrubbing machines, or other light power-driven equipment.
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
- Work independently and exercise proper judgment in handling incidents and routine matters.
- Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others.
- Licensed and insured to operate a motor vehicle.
- Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
