Job summary

PremiStar is seeking an HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanic to layout, fabricate, install, and repair commercial ductwork and ventilation systems. The role requires hands-on experience with large-scale HVAC projects, reading construction drawings, and ensuring work meets codes and safety standards.

The ideal candidate works independently or in teams, delivering high-quality workmanship on schedule while coordinating with foremen, superintendents, and other trades on active construction sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience installing commercial HVAC sheet metal ductwork.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and installation specifications.
• Proficiency with common sheet metal hand tools and power tools.
• Knowledge of duct sizing, layout, fastening, sealing, and support requirements.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and meet project schedules.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial HVAC ductwork, including rectangular, round, spiral, and flexible duct systems.
• Measure, cut, bend, assemble, and install sheet metal components according to project drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate installation activities with other trades to minimize conflicts and delays.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition and report defects.
• Assist apprentices and less‑experienced mechanics with proper installation techniques.
