Job Title:HVAC Design Engineer – High-Rise Buildings
Location:St. Pete, FL
Type:Full-Time
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilledHVAC Design Engineerwith a strong background in designing mechanical systems forhigh-rise buildings. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience withRevitor similar Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools and a deep understanding of HVAC system design, layout, and coordination in complex commercial or residential high-rise structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop HVAC systems for high-rise commercial and residential buildings, including load calculations, ductwork, piping, and equipment selection.
- Produce detailed mechanical drawings and layouts usingRevitor similar BIM tools (e.g., AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, SolidWorks).
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and contractors to ensure coordination across all building systems.
- Conduct system sizing, energy modeling, and ensure compliance with local building codes, ASHRAE standards, and LEED requirements (if applicable).
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and quality assurance checks during construction phases.
- Support project documentation, including specifications, technical reports, and submittal reviews.
- Stay current on HVAC technologies, building codes, and energy-efficient design practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3–7 yearsof HVAC design experience, with a focus onhigh-rise buildings(commercial or residential).
- Proficiency inRevit(required) and familiarity with AutoCAD MEP or similar BIM tools.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, building codes, and mechanical design standards.
- Experience with load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP) is a plus.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
- EIT or PE certification is a plus.
Skills:
- LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable building projects
- Knowledge of mechanical system commissioning and lifecycle cost analysis
- Familiarity with clash detection and model coordination in BIM environments
