Job summary

MSC (Mechanical Service Corporation) seeks an experienced HVAC Design Engineer to lead design/build and retrofit project development for commercial, industrial, and institutional clients. You will assess field conditions, develop viable mechanical solutions, and prepare estimates covering equipment, materials, and labor.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and field experience.
• 5–10 years of HVAC design/build work in commercial, industrial, or institutional environments.
• Ability to develop mechanical solutions without existing plans or specifications.
• Proficiency in load calculation and equipment selection software (HAP, Trace 700, or equivalent).
• Experience producing design drawings using CAD or similar tools.
• Strong estimating skills for equipment, material, and labor costs.
• Solid knowledge of ASHRAE and local mechanical codes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; self-directed.

Responsibilities

• Design & Engineering: conduct site surveys and develop original HVAC/processing designs.
• Estimating & Proposal: prepare detailed project estimates and professional proposals.
• Project Coordination: hand off awarded projects and provide technical support during execution.
• Ensure documentation supports installation and compliance with codes and standards.
• Collaborate with sales to refine proposals and tailor solutions for owners.
