Job summary

LONG Building Technologies in Anchorage, AK is seeking a Controls Technician II to troubleshoot and program temperature control systems according to project specifications. You will apply your HVAC expertise to perform installation, warranty, and emergency procedures while mentoring apprentices on the jobsite.

Ideal candidates will have hands-on building automation experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of computer/electronic technical degree and 1 year temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience or 3-5 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Program databases for supported systems per operation sequences and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Calibrate and check-out control systems and ensure commissioning obligations are met.
  • Create control graphics for projects and assist with GUI delivery per LONG standards.
  • Instruct customer personnel on operation and maintenance of temperature control systems.
  • Update drawings and maintain as-built records; submit redlines to engineers.
  • Advise service sales on potential additional contracts during start-up and training tasks.
  • Mentor controls apprentices on jobsites and assign work roles.
  • Work independently to complete tasks on site.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across project sequences.

$38.88 - $45.20 plus potential profit share.

Qualifications

  • Proficient programming and troubleshooting skill with KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems.
  • Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
  • Ability to independently handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of tech school
  • Certifications in KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems
  • Completion of level 2 of the ASP Program
  • Knowledge of LONG’s operations, procedures, and infrastructure, as it pertains to construction operations.

Physical Requirements
  • This position may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
  • This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
  • This position requires climbing ladders and the ability to function at heights.
