Job summary

Harvard University Central Administration in Boston, MA is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to maintain, repair, and optimize complex building systems across campus laboratories and facilities.

The role requires at least five years in HVAC control, experience with Siemens DDC, and licensure as a Refrigeration Technician in Massachusetts; the position offers on-site work, a strong benefits package, and opportunities to collaborate with research teams.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in HVAC control systems installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and related work.
  • Must have at least two years of relevant experience operating, troubleshooting, and repairing Siemens DDC (Direct Digital Control) control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of airflow and IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) issues required.
  • Must possess a current Refrigeration Technician or acceptable MASS. state trade license.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, service and repair all types of HVAC control systems including pneumatic, electric, electronic, DDC, and general heating and cooling systems.
  • Installs, modifies, and repairs boilers, heating and cooling systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Fabricates and installs high and low-pressure piping and ducting systems. Interprets mechanical plans and prints and updates as necessary.
  • Provides responsive customer support in all phases of building maintenance and operations.
  • Assists and advises customers on maintenance solutions and provides follow-up on progress and status of work.
  • Performs other core skills of the trades and related duties as required.
  • May be assigned to work independently or as part of a multi-trade team under supervision.
  • Must supply a complete set of hand tools.
  • Must be willing to work in research laboratory environments and around hazardous materials.
  • Required to properly wear a uniform and maintain a professional image at all times.
