Job summary

Watsco Careers is seeking a Controls Technician to design, install, commission, and support building automation systems for HVAC projects. You will program software, create drawings and equipment lists, and perform commissioning and start-up activities.

The role requires knowledge of controller wiring, building networks, and HVAC sensor basics, with a strong technical background and the ability to travel outside Puerto Rico.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electronics or related fields.
• Minimum 3 years installing and/or commissioning controls systems including system-level controllers.
• 3 years’ experience in HVAC controls hardware (i.e. flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts, electrical schematics) and software applications.
• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude.
• Demonstrated advanced computer skills required, particularly computer-related drafting tools.
• Billingual

Responsibilities

• Performs software programming using established standards as a basis of design.
• Performs the creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
• Perform Building Automation Systems animated graphics.
• Perform the commissioning and start up in HVAC Controls Projects.
• Knowledge in wiring connection to the controllers.
• Strong technical experience.
• Knowledge in Building Networks.
• Knowledge in basic HVAC sensor functionally.
• Attends emergency calls.
• Assists sales by providing technical recommendations to produce job layouts and assist with bid proposals.
• Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
