Job summary

Trane Technologies in the United States is seeking a field-based HVAC/Controls technician to start up and commission new systems, diagnose and repair environmental-control systems at customer locations.

The role requires 3–5 years of HVAC/Controls experience, a High School diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver's license. DDC familiarity and EPA knowledge are preferred. Competitive hourly pay, with benefits like health insurance and 401K match are offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; typically 3–5 years of HVAC/Controls experience; technical training preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to work with handheld devices (smartphone, tablet).
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean record for at least 12 months.
• DDC controls experience preferred; EPA knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Start and commission new HVAC/controls systems at customer sites.
• Diagnose and repair environmental-control systems while applying electronics, direct digital control, airflow, and refrigeration theory.
• Serve as the direct customer contact on assigned projects to ensure satisfaction by identifying and repairing equipment on site.
• Coordinate with team leader and customer to forecast issues and gather materials for on-site work.
• Stay current on Trane products related to installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of DDC systems.
• Maintain safety standards and asset security for company equipment and tools.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work overtime, including occasional overnight stays.

What you will do:

• In this extremely unique role blending your HVAC and Controls knowledge, you will be responsible for starting and commissioning new systems, diagnosing, and repair of environmental-control systems, utilizing knowledge of electronics, direct digital control, airflow, refrigeration theory, and control and mechanical techniques in diverse commercial settings.


• Represents the company by serving as the direct customer contact and is responsible for servicing products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer's location.


• Coordinates with team leader and customer to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by forecasting issues, gathering materials and synchronizing on-site work.


• Keeps current on Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of direct digital control systems.


• Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.


• Displays team effort and dedication to customer by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weeks as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.

What you will bring:

• A High School Diploma or equivalent required, and typically at least 3-5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls. Technical School or formal training is preferred.


• Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad).


• Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.


• Previous experience with DDC controls system preferred.


• EPA preferred.
