Job summary

Johnson Controls Federal Systems seeks an HVAC Controls System Technician to grow in BAS and controls, supporting Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield, GA. Training is provided. Shift 7:30am–4:30pm, Mon–Fri; pay range $23–$30/hr with company vehicle.

Benefits start on day one; 3 weeks vacation, 5 sick days, floating holidays, and holidays per year. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, basic commissioning, loading controller software, calibration, documentation, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience with HVAC, electronics, electrical or mechanical systems; troubleshooting or installation preferred.
• Proficient with hand and power tools.
• MS Office and Windows experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to obtain required security badges/clearances.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
• Perform basic commissioning and diagnostics from controllers to end devices and document results.
• Load system-level controller software.
• Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment.
• Document changes for as-built records.
• Inform management, contractors and customers of progress and issues.
• Follow safety standards and complete required safety training.

Job description

We are seeking an HVAC Controls System Technician who has a desire to learn and grow in the field of HVAC Controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS) to join our Federal Systems teamsupporting Fort Stewart and the Hunter Army Airfield locations in North Eastern Georgia, near Savannah, GA and the Georgia coastline (military friendly, but experience is not required). Training and development is provided with this role.

Shift: 7:30am - 4:30pm, Monday-Friday

Pay range: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour based on experience

Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total)
Travel: None, all work is based at this location

As a Controls System Technician, you will:

• Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems
• Perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e. sensors, actuators, etc) and completes all required commissioning documentation.
• Load system-level controller software.
• Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment
• Document changes and provides information for as-built documentation.
• Keeps management, contractors and customers informed of job progress and issues
• Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

Required Qualifications

• Experience working with HVAC, electronics, electrical and/or mechanical systems, or engineering. Troubleshooting or installation experience preferred
• Able to use hand and power tools (i.e. drills, saws, etc.)
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and general Windows environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to obtain and maintain required security badges/clearances as required. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of HVAC systems and control theory
• Experience working with Direct Digital Control systems

Preferred Education

• Technical Associates Degree or technical certificates in mechanical, electrical, electronics, HVAC, computer science, networking, or a related field.
