Job summary

Johnson Controls Federal Systems in North Eastern Georgia near Savannah seeks an HVAC Controls System Technician to join the Federal Systems team serving Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. Training and development are provided with this role.

Shift: 7:30am - 4:30pm, Monday-Friday. Pay range: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour based on experience. Company vehicle, benefits on first day, and extensive vacation/holiday allowances. Based at the location with opportunities to grow in BAS and DDC skills.

Qualifications

  • Experience with HVAC, electronics, electrical or mechanical systems; troubleshooting/installation experience preferred.
  • Able to use hand and power tools.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office suite and Windows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain required security badges/clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems
  • Perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices
  • Load system-level controller software
  • Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment
  • Document changes and provide information for as-built documentation
  • Keep management, contractors and customers informed of job progress and issues

Job description

We are seeking an HVAC Controls System Technician who has a desire to learn and grow in the field of HVAC Controls and Building Automation Systems (BAS) to join our Federal Systems team supporting Fort Stewart and the Hunter Army Airfield locations in North Eastern Georgia, near Savannah, GA and the Georgia coastline (military friendly, but experience is not required). Training and development is provided with this role.

Shift: 7:30am - 4:30pm, Monday-Friday

Pay range: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour based on experience

Company vehicle: Yes

Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment

Vacation: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total)

Travel: None, all work is based at this location

  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems
  • Perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e. sensors, actuators, etc) and completes all required commissioning documentation.
  • Load system-level controller software.
  • Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment
  • Document changes and provides information for as-built documentation.
  • Keeps management, contractors and customers informed of job progress and issues
  • Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working with HVAC, electronics, electrical and/or mechanical systems, or engineering. Troubleshooting or installation experience preferred
  • Able to use hand and power tools (i.e. drills, saws, etc.)
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) and general Windows environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain required security badges/clearances as required. (This involves a background/character, criminal history, employment, and credit check.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and control theory
  • Experience working with Direct Digital Control systems

Preferred Education:

  • Technical Associates Degree or technical certificates in mechanical, electrical, electronics, HVAC, computer science, networking, or a related field.
