Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Controls Systems Designer to support design, programming, commissioning, and documentation of HVAC control systems. Working under supervision, you will ensure projects meet customer requirements and are clearly communicated to internal teams, customers, consultants, and subcontractors.
The role emphasizes selecting hardware, programming software, coordinating drawings, ordering materials, and assisting with commissioning and training while upholding safety
Johnson Controls is a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization. We help customers use energy more productively, reduce carbon emissions, and operate with the precision and resilience required in demanding environments such as data centers, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing, and higher education. For more than 140 years, Johnson Controls has delivered performance where it matters most. Backed by advanced technology, lifecycle services, and an industry-leading field organization, we help turn project goals into real-world results and move society forward.
As an HVAC Controls Systems Designer, you will support the design, programming, commissioning, and documentation of HVAC control systems. Working under direct supervision and established standards, you will help ensure each project meets the intent of the customer’s requirements and is clearly communicated to internal teams, customers, consultants, and subcontractors.
Use established standards and the standard design library to build consistent, practical control solutions that align with project requirements. Stay close to the work and communicate early by coordinating with customers, consultants, the field installation team, and subcontractors when questions or changes arise. Own your documentation and follow-through so submittals, schedules, as-builts, software changes, and manuals remain accurate through turnover. Approach commissioning with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset to validate functionality, resolve issues, and help bring each system into reliable operation. Work safely, honestly, and as one team by sharing progress clearly, supporting others across trades, and keeping employee and subcontractor safety front and center. Look for continuous improvement in everyday work by capturing field feedback, applying lessons learned, and making each project more efficient and effective.
You will join a team that combines strong technical standards with practical field execution. This role includes a competitive benefits package, and the posted hourly range is $32.07-$48.13, with final compensation determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data. Johnson Controls also recognizes that exceptional candidates may bring unique experience beyond the typical profile. If you’re ready to help design and deliver HVAC control systems that perform where it matters most, we’d love to hear from you.
