Job summary

Pacific Rim Mechanical designs and develops Building Automation Systems in AutoCAD from construction or design documents. You will own projects from inception to closeout, review project specs, and support sales with take-offs and specifications.

You will create operation sequences, select control devices, manage budgets, and coordinate with subcontractors. Travel and overtime may be required; overtime may be necessary for commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Completion of technical/vocational schooling or equal industry specific experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years with Building Automation and Control Systems.
  • Experience with Distech and Tridium systems preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in Windows, Word, Excel, Visio, AutoCAD and learn new software as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and applicable codes.
  • Valid California driver's license with clean DMV report for company vehicle use.
  • Authorized to work in the United States; fluent in English (spoken and written).

Job description

Design and develop Building Automation Systems in AutoCAD using construction documents or design documents.

Typical Duties:

  • Maintain positive communication with all Pacific Rim customers and potential customers to facilitate growth and opportunity.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects from inception to closeout.
  • Review and understand project documents and specifications.
  • Provide assistance for sales related activities such as take-offs and specification review & interpretation.
  • Create equipment sequence of operations using prior experience and project related documents.
  • Research and select control system devices.
  • Manage engineering time and cost budgets per project.
  • Create submittal & closeout packages in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with the project team to ensure problems or issues are identified early on and help to creates solutions.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors for product delivery and transmittal documents.
  • Accurately manage and submit weekly electronic time sheet.
  • Prepare complete, clear, and concise reports and other required Pacific Rim Mechanical paperwork.
  • Attend & complete safety courses and classes.
  • Attend & complete industry related courses and classes.
  • Ability to work overtime and after hours as required.
  • Ability to travel and work out of town as required.
  • Ability to assist in control system commissioning if needed.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience:

  • Completion of technical/vocational schooling or equal industry specific experience.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external personnel using proper etiquette.
  • Minimum experience of 3+ years with Building Automation and Control Systems.
  • Experience with Distech and Tridium systems is preferred but not required.
  • Efficient in Windows, Word, Excel, Visio, Auto Cad, and learn new software programs as required.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of mechanical systems and have the ability to learn additional building systems as required.
  • Understand electrical systems, appropriate codes, and Pacific Rim standards.
  • Work with subcontractors to insure proper installation procedures.
  • Demonstrated understanding of communication protocols such as LON, BACnet and Modbus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of computers, networks and software.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and provide a clean DMV report covering the past (3) years to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must understand and comply with all safety and OSHA requirements.
  • Must be authorized to legally work in the United States.
  • Must be capable of effectively speaking and writing in the English language.

Salary Range:

$30-$60 per hour Based on Experience (FMLA Non-Exempt)

Truck/Van to be provided but is contingent on approved DMV report.
