ENFRA is seeking a Controls Analyst to support Energy-as-a-Service projects focused on HVAC optimization, BAS programming, and energy savings verification across multi-building campuses in higher education and healthcare environments.

This role serves as a technical resource supporting Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) projects, with a primary focus on HVAC system optimization, operational performance, and verification of energy savings outcomes. Projects are typically complex, multi-building and multi-campus portfolios within higher education and healthcare environments, involving substantial mechanical infrastructure and advanced, integrated control strategies.
The position works closely with engineering and commissioning teams to evaluate existing BAS architecture, troubleshoot system performance issues, and deploy advanced HVAC sequences of operation across air and hydronic systems. Responsibilities include performing site assessments, analyzing trend data, developing and modifying DDC logic, validating sequence implementation, and supporting functional testing and ongoing optimization activities.
The Controls Analyst is expected to possess advanced knowledge of HVAC systems, BAS platforms, networked controls, and energy conservation measures, with a strong emphasis on high-performance building operations. The role requires the ability to translate engineering intent into effective control logic, lead complex troubleshooting efforts, and implement programming approaches that support scalable and repeatable energy savings outcomes.
Successful candidates demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, deep experience with retro-commissioning and HVAC optimization, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams while maintaining a focus on quality, execution, and driving measurable operational performance improvements.
Understanding of DDC controls
Develop and implement energy conservation measures including but not limited to room ventilation schedules per ASHRAE guidelines with project delivery team
Participate in site surveys, documentation review, and due diligence activities to determine facility conditions and develop applicable energy conservation measures
Participate in retro-commissioning and commissioning efforts on assigned projects
Troubleshoot, optimize, and modify building automation system programming to implement energy conservation measures within existing sequences
Interact directly with the project team to ensure high quality, functional and optimized systems are delivered
Utilize test instrumentation to troubleshoot, verify, and optimize building system operation
Maintain awareness of energy performance for assigned scopes through the duration of the project
Collaborate with the project team to ensure performance targets are met and maintained
Identify corrective actions when scope or performance gaps are identified
Ensure issues are properly identified and communicated to project team
Assist with the resolution of issues by proposing and tracking implementation of solutions to the project team
Proactively address and elevate as required, constraints to achieving project outcomes and scope completion
Familiarity with building automation systems software
Strong communication and coordination skills
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree
2+ years of experience in HVAC controls, design, energy management, or relevant fields
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to interact with owners, owner’s representatives, contractors, engineers and architects in a professional manner while effectively driving project outcome
Knowledge of commercial MEP equipment design and operations
Commissioning Certification from ACG, BCxA, ASHRAE
Registered Engineering Intern (EI) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure
Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Proficient with Bluebeam Studio and Revu software
Strong technical background in the development, review, and refinement of HVAC sequences of operation, with direct experience implementing control logic across platforms such as Siemens, JCI, Niagara, Schneider Electric, Alerton, ALC, and Honeywell
Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles
Climbing stairs.
