Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking a Commissioning / Validation Specialist in Texas to support the commissioning of HVAC and building systems across various project types. You will help plan and execute functional tests, analyze data, and document performance in collaboration with engineers and project teams.

Ideal candidates have a mechanical engineering background, 3+ years in commissioning or building performance, and strong communication and documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and related field indicated.
• 3+ years of related experience in commissioning, validation or building performance.
• Experience with HVAC systems and BAS.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in commissioning and validation of HVAC and building systems across projects.
• Support planning and execution of functional performance testing.
• Review test data (airflow, temperature, pressure) to verify performance.
• Troubleshoot system performance issues and coordinate corrective actions.
• Track and document commissioning deficiencies and resolutions.
• Maintain organized commissioning records, logs, and test documentation.
• Prepare commissioning reports with test results and observations.
• Collaborate with designers, contractors, and owners throughout project delivery.
