Job description

Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial/residential HVAC systems utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, electrical schematics, pneumatic and electronic control systems, pipe fitting, welding, brazing, and mechanical layouts.

Uses a variety of hand tools, following blueprints, wiring and piping diagrams, or engineering specifications, to install, diagnose, and repair units.

Operates refrigerant recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, charging equipment, and service gauges.

Possesses excellent troubleshooting skills to component level.

Inspects systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications.

Completes routine maintenance and operates HVAC systems and related equipment to ensure safe and effective operation of facilities.

Maintains quality of work, performance, and productivity standards.

Performs repairs, overhauls, and start-ups of commercial HVAC systems.

Records temperature, pressure, and other readings on log sheets at specified intervals.

Documents work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files. Keeps current with manufacturers’ products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.

May be required to work varying schedules and shifts to reflect the business needs of the company.

Knowledge of VAV/VVT HVAC systems and building controls – ATC Temperature Electronic and Pneumatic controls – preferred.
