Position Overview
HVAC Chiller Mechanics at Fort Jackson perform advanced maintenance, repair, replacement, and modernization of HVAC systems, including multi-ton chillers, to maintain regulated climatic conditions. The ideal candidate is EPA Universal Certified and experienced with various HVAC systems.
Salary
Starting at $35.00 to $50.00/hr (DOE) plus $4.93 fringe benefits for insurance and 401k.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on air-cooled chillers, pumps, water systems, and VRF systems
- Test and troubleshoot automated building controls
- Maintain various HVAC units including split package, residential, mini-splits, VAVs, and AHUs
- Use tools such as multi-meters and torches for brazing
- Prepare work orders and estimate costs
- Train and evaluate technicians
Essential Skills
- Ability to work independently and read schematics
- Understanding of refrigeration cycle and troubleshooting skills
- Preventive maintenance expertise
- Proficiency with maintenance software
- Workplace safety practices, including PPE use
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years experience with Trane, Carrier, York chillers and cooling towers
- EPA Universal Refrigeration License
- HVAC I course or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one
- Pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Dependable attendance
- U.S. citizenship
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Use of hands, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces
- Work outdoors and indoors in various temperatures
