Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Facilities Building Systems Technician to perform intermediate level tasks that ensure a safe and comfortable environment and uninterrupted operation of mechanical and utility systems. This title is covered under the current Agreement between The Ohio State University and Communication Workers of America Local 4501.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years experience in building systems operations, commercial/industrial building maintenance, and/or HVAC and building automation systems or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• EPA Section 608 Technician Certification- Universal and OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card to be obtained during probation.
• Successful completion of probation with demonstrated competency in identified technical specialties.
• Criminal background check and motor vehicle review may be required.
• Shift, hours, and/or location may change per collective bargaining agreement; may require overtime and 24-hour emergency call.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and analyze airflow issues, measure/adjust airflow, and clean condensers and coils.
• Inspect fan motors and belts, replace filters, evaluate pneumatic compressor and related tubing for wear.
• Diagnose/repair/replace HVAC fixtures including chillers, boilers, ductwork, thermostats and pumps.
• Diagnose/repair/replace HVAC refrigeration units (residential and commercial).
• Inspect building automation controls, test electrical circuits for continuity, and monitor BAS systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance including calibration and inspection of controls, dampers, belts, and major mechanical systems.
