Job summary

Schneider Electric is seeking a HVAC / Building Automation Technician in the Manhattan, NY area. The role requires 2–4 years of experience in HVAC and building automation and involves on-site service, installation, and commissioning of building automation and security systems.

You will diagnose software issues, perform preventative maintenance, code and modify software, support commissioning, and collaborate with project teams to meet specifications, budgets, and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in HVAC and building automation.
  • Experience installing panel terminations based on submittals and drawing submittals.
  • Experience stripping and terminating 12‑ to 16‑gauge wire.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems, energy management systems, and commissioning processes.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues on Building Automation and Energy Management Systems.
  • Perform software preventative maintenance, including patches and antivirus updates.
  • Code software in multiple languages and environments per project needs.
  • Assist with commissioning and startup of Building Automation and Energy Management Systems.
  • Support 3rd party commissioning agents and communicate deficiencies to the project team.
  • Coordinate field tasks with Project Manager and ensure startup tasks meet schedules.

Job description

Schneider Electric is looking for a HVAC / Building Automation Technician in the Manhattan, NY area.

This position is typically held by an individual with at least 2 years of experience in HVAC and Building Automation constructing low-voltage electrical systems and preferably industry knowledge.

The role involves understanding project requirements such as specifications, standards, budgets, schedules, and safety.

The individual must be capable of conducting on‑site service activities related to the coordination, installation, and commissioning of building automation and security management systems, and can work independently or with other team members.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues on installed Building Automation and Energy Management Systems.
  • Perform software preventative maintenance on installed Building Automation and Energy Management Systems, including implementing software patches and updating antivirus solutions.
  • Code software using multiple languages in multiple environments as appropriate, adhering to high‑quality coding and testing practices.
  • Suggest system improvements, modifications, etc.
  • Assist with commissioning and startup of new Building Automation and Energy Management Systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Streamline and develop software code, graphics, and drivers for graphic front end, human‑machine interface.
  • Function independently with minimal supervision to complete all job tasks.
  • Support 3rd party commissioning agents in the commissioning process and lead communication of deficiencies to the project team.
  • Support network troubleshooting and analysis by running packet captures for software engineers/product support to use for troubleshooting.
  • Initiate, manage, and communicate status for all field‑related product support cases.
  • Support Project Manager in scheduling, prioritization, and identifying obstacles for startup tasks.
Experience
  • 2‑4 year relative work experience.
Skills & Abilities
  • Intermediate knowledge of HVAC and building automation.
  • Experience in installation of panel terminations based on submittals.
  • Experience with stripping and terminating 12‑to‑16‑gauge wire.
  • Working knowledge of red‑lining commissioning.
  • Installation of panel terminations based on submittal drawings.
Education
  • Two‑year degree or HVAC controls / BAS / BMS related work experience required.
Compensation

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD 68,000 – USD 102,000 per year. This pay range includes base pay and short‑term incentives. The compensation range for this full‑time position applies to candidates located within the United States.
