Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an Apprentice to learn HVAC on-site in Amarillo, TX. The role offers formal training through the Service Technical Academy and hands-on work with qualified technicians to develop practical, industry-ready skills.

You will troubleshoot and service HVAC equipment, with guidance toward advancement. A valid driver's license, union membership, and safety-first attitude are required.

Qualifications

• Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO.
• 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics on non-complex HVAC equipment.
• Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
• Prioritize safety in all forms.
• This position requires a valid driver’s license.
• Preferred 1-2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Apprentices will be trained and will perform on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
• Apprentices will participate in certified training through Service Technical Academy to build skill sets for advancement.
• Through coaching and mentorship, apprentices will develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and customer needs.
• You will keep customers advised of job progress and issues as needed and provide quotes to support recommendations.
